Itinerary Summary

  • Day 1 – Vancouver to Valemount
    Experience the scenic journey through Hope, Kamloops, and Spahat Falls before arriving in Valemount.
  • Day 2 – Valemount to Golden
    Explore Jasper, drive the Icefields Parkway, visit the Columbia Icefield, and arrive in Golden.
  • Day 3 – Golden – Banff – Golden

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day One

VANCOUVER TO VALEMOUNT

The adventure begins as you meet your guide at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver, 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. From there, you’ll head to the famous little town of Hope for a quick pit stop before travelling through the scenic Coquihalla Corridor. A stop will be made for lunch in Kamloops or a nearby area (own expense) before visiting the spectacular Spahat Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park. After a day of exploration, you’ll arrive at your accommodation in Valemount, where you’ll have free time to enjoy dinner and the amenities.

Day Two

VALEMOUNT TO GOLDEN

Depart Valemount and stop for breakfast at Café Mt. Robson while enjoying views of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies (weather permitting). Continue the journey through the Rockies as you cross from British Columbia to Alberta and stop in the town of Jasper for free time to explore local shops. Travel the scenic Icefields Parkway, one of the top 5 drives in the world, and stop at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre with time for lunch, and an option to book the Ice Explorer Glacier Adventure (additional cost). Visit either Peyto Lake or Bow Lake on your way to Golden (time permitting), and check into your hotel with free time for dinner and to enjoy the amenities. Option to head out to the local pub, Rockwater Grill and Bar and/or Whitetooth Brewing Co..

Day Three

GOLDEN - BANFF - GOLDEN

You’ll depart Golden after an included breakfast in your hotel. First, you’ll visit Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park before travelling to the iconic town of Banff, the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Then it’s on to Lake Louise where you can enjoy a lakeside walk with a picnic lunch (at your own expense), followed by a visit to Moraine Lake (seasonal). Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff, including Banff Avenue, Bow Falls and the famed Banff Springs Hotel before having free time to explore the restaurants and shops on Banff Avenue. There is an option, at an additional cost, to go up the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for a wonderful sightseeing experience. After a big day you’ll return to Golden to enjoy the hotel amenities and join your tour group for outdoor games and fun with your fellow travellers.

Day Four

GOLDEN TO VANCOUVER

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel (included) before heading out for an adventure at the Golden Skybridge (admission included), home to Canada’s highest suspension bridges. Begin your journey back to Vancouver, with a stop at Craigellachie, where the Last Spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Afterward, stop for lunch in Kamloops (own expense) before continuing through Hope on your way back. Arrive in Vancouver at approximately 8:00pm.

The Rockies Explorer Tour begins in the vibrant city of Vancouver, taking you on an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Canadian Rockies. Whether you are marvelling at towering mountain peaks or exploring crystal-clear lakes, adventure awaits at every turn.

Free activities range from sightseeing to enjoying scenic views of iconic locations such as Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. And we include admission to the Golden Skybridge! You can also choose to partake in the optional activities listed below, at an additional cost.

Note: The below optional activities can be pre-booked at a discount, but if you want to wait, you can easily book and pay through your tour guide during the trip!

Accommodation

On tours operated by West Trek, hotel accommodation is included for all nights of the tour in same-gender rooms, based on quadruple-occupancy with 2 beds. Or, for an additional cost, you can upgrade to having your own bed or even your own room! There are numerous options available.

Some sites on this tour are only available seasonally. The road to Moraine Lake is open from late May/earlyJune to mid-October. Choose a departure within this timeframe to experience these breathtaking locations this tour.
